We are constantly surrounded by hardships. School shootings, political scandals, and even rising tensions between countries are becoming daily struggles. Students are protesting all over the United States. Throughout history, people protest when they want to change the way things are. One of the most influential ways of protest is through the arts. Carrie Reichardt an artist from the UK, uses murals, ceramics, and graphic design in her work. Reichardt fights against the death penalty and for animal abuse awareness. Banksy another UK artist is known for using art as a potent political weapon. Using graffiti, this influential artist bases his work on global issues both political and social problems such as anti-fascism and anti-imperialism. Musicians have also used their talents to show their beliefs. "War" by Edwin Starr protested the Vietnam War and called for everyday harmony with one another. “Sunday Bloody Sunday” by U2 brought awareness to the Irish civilians lives that were taken in 1972 by British troops. This song called for peace and end to violence.
